Doyle Homes Supports Christie Lake Kids
Over the past 8 years Doyle Homes has been dedicated to Christie Lake Kids- a charitable organization that creates opportunities for economically disadvantaged children and youth in Ottawa. CLK changes the trajectory of their young lives through sport, arts, camp, mentoring and leadership programming that recognizes their needs, supports and challenges them. All CLK programming is provided to the youth at no cost, including equipment and transportation.
In the past year Doyle Homes has been able to raise over $70,000 for Christie Lake Kids through events such as, Canoe for Kids and the first annual golf event for CLK.
On Saturday June 2nd, 2012 the Doyle Homes staff participated in the 17th Annual Enbridge Canoe for Kids fundraiser at Moonies Bay. This year marked the seventh straight year that Doyle Homes participated in this event, and the fifth year that Doyle Homes has partnered up with Christie Lakes as a $5,000 dock sponsor. It costs $1800.00 to send one child to camp for two weeks. Our goal was to raise enough money to send 3 children to Camp this year ($5,400). With hard work and dedication we managed to raise $9,245, winning first place for the team to raise the most money, and we were able to send 5 underprivileged kids to Camp.
New this year, on August 14th, 2012, Doyle Homes hosted the Inaugural Christie Lake Kids Golf Tournament at the Eagle Creek Golf Club. At this fun-filled event we managed to raise over $50,000 for CLK towards year-round skills development programs for economically disadvantaged children in the Ottawa area.
This year was great, but next year will be better!
